I've been playing the harp since 1984 and traditional Irish music since 1971. I teach harp and fiddle by ear. I perform with my husband Dennis Gormley as McDermott's Handy. Debbie Brewin-Wilson and I started the Harpers Escape Weekend in 1992 and I took over the Somerset Harp Festival in 2008.

It's a busy time of the year--March Madness for those of us who play Irish music. After that, for me it's the NJ Folk Festival on April 27. Trip to Ireland in May. July is Somerset from July 17-21--what else? Then the Harpers' Escape from Oct. 4-6.

Hey Everybody:  I know it's the busy holiday season but wouldn't it be great if everybody posted at least one pix of their favorite harp Christmas tree ornament?  I've gotten so many over the years from students that I'd have a hard time picking just one!

Thanks for the invite! We will actually be in NJ for a family reunion and to see the Balloon Festival which is next to my parents house.  I will be watching the message board to see about used harps.. My daughter is renting one of her instructor's travel Harp.. We may swing by... Is the event the 4th weekend in July each year?  Next year we can try to be up there longer...

I am having fun doing open mics at Foreigner Bars here in Daejeon. I played ( and sang )  a simple Steven Stills cover " 4 & 20 years ago " and by the 2nd verse you could hear a pin drop in the crowd. I was surprised.

None other! It's me!  I've been thinking about you for quite a while, actually, and this seemed to be a good way to get back in touch. I'm in California now - actually, since about 2008, when I retired.

Haven't taken up the harp, though. Haven't played music for a while either, sadly. Is it ok if I lurk?  If you send me your address off line I'd like to send you some things. How's Dennis and Emma?
